Challenges of Being New as a Manager

The ”New as a Manager” training is aimed at strengthening you in your new role as a leader or manager. Making the transition from being an employee to becoming a manager can be challenging, as you suddenly have to lead former colleagues. Similarly, it can be challenging to come in as a new manager from outside the organization, without knowledge of the company culture and the existing challenges. One of the challenges for new managers is finding their leadership style. We’ve all encountered a manager at some point who may not have been skilled at communication or providing constructive feedback. Conversely, many of us have encountered a leader who has truly been an inspiration and has been able to motivate their team or participants. For those who are new as managers, it’s important to figure out what type of leader you want to be in your new role.

One of the biggest challenges for new managers is building trust and respect among their employees, something crucial for productivity and motivation and a key factor for success. In the role of a manager, there is much you can do to create effective teams of employees who, together with you, can strive towards common goals. In our leadership training, we provide you with the tools to create functional groups that are motivated by your leadership.

What is personal leadership?

Personal leadership is about development, both in terms of yourself as an individual and your role as a leader and manager. Identifying your strengths and weaknesses and using them constructively provides you with an opportunity to achieve your goals, both on a personal level and in your professional life. By having a clear strategy and vision for your development, you can discover your unique leadership style and find your role as a leader.

The importance of feedback and constructive criticism

A good leader is often characterized by being very skilled at providing feedback. Feedback fosters development and motivation, and it is your role as a leader to provide feedback in various ways. Feedback may be part of those difficult conversations that managers must have, but even if feedback is negative, you can often turn it into something positive to motivate and empower your employees. In our ’New as a Manager’ training, we provide you with the keys to develop and motivate yourself in your leadership by giving feedback in the right way.
